Some of these might seem like tried and tested questions, but I guarantee you that even in 2020 these questions are still the most popular job interview questions out there.

The choice is yours whether you want to be prepared or not.

In addition to the below interview questions you will also be asked technical questions, or interview questions related to the specifics of the skill set and tasks required of the role you have applied for. To prepare yourself for these, ensure you have your list of key achievements or projects that you have completed in your previous roles  (if you have forgotten this, go back to the original post HERE), so you can talk to these and provide examples of where your skill set has come to life.

Practice with these 10 Interview Questions to set you up for success....

  1. Tell me about yourself…..
  2. What is it about this role that excites you?
  3. What do you know about our organisation? (This is a seriously EMBARRASSING one if you have done no research or homework beforehand on the Company. And, believe me, I have seen it happen!)
  4. What are your longer-term aspirations?
  5. Can you give us an example of a time you have had tight deadlines to meet? How have you prioritised your work and managed your stress?
  6. Describe an example of a tough situation you have dealt with in a previous role. How did you overcome it?
  7. What are the key skills you believe you bring to this role?
  8. How do you like to work with other people?
  9. What are your weaknesses or what area is there that you may require some help with? (Now, don’t you dare try to pick a strength and pretend it is a weakness, like “oh, I just work too hard!” or something similar. Be honest. Being aware of your areas for development and then talking to what you are doing to improve them shows self-awareness and proactiveness).
  10. What questions do you have for us? (Psssttttt…. Do not say NOTHING. Make sure you have something prepared to ask the interviewers to ensure you look like you have done your own preparation for the interview).

Now, this is just a bonus question that is definitely not as common, but I always used to like to ask it to get a real sense of people’s motivations in life.

  1. If you won a million dollars in the lotto next week, what would you do with it?
